Description
A collection of dictionaries covering different thematic topics, generally including definitions and common terms in Catalan and Spanish. The dictionaries are produced by the Terminology Unit alongside specialists in the working area and from different institutions—or by private individuals—with advice and review by the unit. In certain instances, the TERMCAT Terminology Centre also provided collaboration.

This Dictionary of Agriculture has been produced by the Agriculture and Fishing Department of the Government of the Balearic Islands, and the UIB Terminology Unit.
It contains 1,893 Catalan terms and definitions, alongside their equivalent in Spanish, wherever possible, and includes grammatical categories. In turn, there are entries with notes on linguistic aspects or broader information about a specific concept. The terms mainly refer to the rural environment, crop techniques and systems, tools, machines and animal harnesses, phytopathology and climate issues linked to crops. With a view to aiding consultation, the book contains an index of terms in Catalan, terms in Spanish and scientific names. The bibliography used to compile the dictionary is also included at the end of the volume.

This Dictionary of Animal Husbandry contains 2,148 Catalan terms and definitions, alongside their equivalent in Spanish, wherever possible, and includes grammatical categories. In turn, there are entries with notes on linguistic aspects or broader information about a specific concept. The terms mainly refer to nutrition, rearing, crofting and spaces for animals, as well as livestock trades and activities. With a view to aiding consultation, the book contains an index of terms in Catalan, terms in Spanish and scientific names. The bibliography used to compile the dictionary (both specialised works, and terminology and lexicon books) is also included at the end of the volume.

This Fishing Dictionary contains 1,218 entries in Catalan and their definitions, alongside their equivalent in Spanish, wherever possible, and includes grammatical categories. In turn, there are entries with notes on linguistic aspects or broader information about a specific concept. The terms mainly refer to the world of fishing (arts of fishing, types, commercialisation, etc.), although there are also entries on physical geography and weather, sailing and fish diseases. Moreover, there is an appendix with 235 names of fish and shellfish mainly sold in the Balearic Islands.

This multilingual glossary contains 712 terms on terminology linked to the history of art and, more specifically, to architecture, sculpture, painting and the decorative arts. It includes movements, styles, types, elements, procedures and techniques, and materials. The entries are ordered alphabetically in Catalan and include synonyms and equivalents in Spanish, French and English. There is also an index of terms for each of these languages that cross-references with the Catalan entry.

This book has been produced by the Terminology and Onomastics units, and edited by the UIB, in collaboration with the Balearic Department of Education and Culture. It contains a collection of overseas demonyms that specify the geographic location they refer to and is based on a comprehensive review of the most important lexicographic works in Catalan.

This dictionary of the arts contains 1,383 terms in Catalan from all time periods and covers architecture, urbanism, sculpture, painting, printing and engraving, drawing and decorative arts. It also includes equivalent terms in Spanish, as well as definitions. The information is supplemented with an appendix of 72 illustrations of over 140 terms. The dictionary has been edited by the UIB Terminology Unit and reviewed by TERMCAT. It includes around a hundred loanwords that have been standardised by the TERMCAT Supervisory Council.

This biology dictionary contains 1,480 entries in Catalan and Spanish, including terms from molecular biology, cell biology, human biology, population biology and the biology of ecosystems. There are also illustrations in the animal and plant anatomy sections. The book is mainly aimed at secondary school teachers and pupils, and has been edited and reviewed by the Terminology Unit.
