Prior qualifications required
In order to take this level, students must have both oral and written language skills to enable them to deal with most language communication situations that may arise on topics related to work, studies, family and leisure.

Although not an essential requirement, it would be useful to have taken the previous level and have the following accredited certificates or equivalents:

  • B1 Certificate in Catalan issued by the UIB Language Service (from 2010), the Government of the Balearic Islands or the Official Language School.

Calendar for written and oral exams, and publication of marks

Dates, times and rooms for written and oral exams; publication of provisional and final marks, and collection of certificates for A2, B2 and C1 Catalan courses in the 2018-19 academic year

Due to unforeseen circumstances, changes have had to be made to times and rooms for this year's courses. The updated information is listed below:

  •  A2 written and oral exams: Wednesday 5th June, 9-11 am, room SAL07, Antoni Maria Alcover i Sureda building
  • B2 written exam: Thursday 6th June, 9 am-1 pm, room SAL07, Antoni Maria Alcover i Sureda building
  • C1 morning course written exam: Wednesday 29th May, room SAL07, Antoni Maria Alcover i Sureda building, 10 am-1.30 pm, (N.B. the start time is one hour earlier than the usual class starting time!)
  • C1 afternoon course written exam: Thursday 30th May, 3-6.30 pm, room AB14 Gaspar Melchor de Jovellanos building
  • All provisional marks for the written exams (alongside your personal slot-day, time and room-for the oral exam): Tuesday 11th June on this website
  • Review of written exams (reviews must be specifically requested by e-mail sent to the corresponding teacher or head of studies): Wednesday 12th and Thursday 13th June at the Language Service offices in the Son Lledó building
  • Final marks for the written exams: Friday 14th June on this website
  • Oral exams for both C1 groups: Friday 14th June (from 9 am onwards in room SAL07 in the Antoni Maria Alcover i Sureda building)
  • B2 oral exams: Monday 17th June (from 9 am onwards in room SAL07 in the Antoni Maria Alcover i Sureda building)
  • Provisional oral marks released: Tuesday 18th June on this website

Registration for Catalan Courses 2018-19

Registration Period for Second Semester Courses in 2019: 28th January-8th February

IMPORTANT

The diplomas, qualifications or certificates issued by the Language Service after taking the A2 Catalan examinations are officially accredited as per the Order of the Regional Minister of Education, Culture and Universities of 21st February 2013, which sets out the equivalent qualifications, diplomas and certificates to the Catalan certificates issued by the Directorate General for Culture and Youth.

Registration Period

Courses starting in 2018 (running in semester one and throughout the year): 10th - 21st September.

Courses starting in 2019 (running semester two): 28th January - 8th February 2019. The registration date for mobility students will match their arrival date at the UIB.

Registration Terms and Conditions

  • Maximum number of available places: 25 per course
  • Registration must be done in person and by order of submission
  • Where applicable, and based on registration being cancelled due to force majeure, a waiting list will be issued for each course with a maximum of 10 places by order of submission

Registration Procedure

  1. Please come in person to the Language Service offices (Son Lledó) with the following documentation:
  2. If you are not part of the university community, when submitting your documents please request UIBdigital credentials.
  3. Once you have submitted your documents to staff at the office (Enric Llompart), the Language Service will provide you with an information sheet containing the bank account number where you need to deposit your registration fee.
  4. You have two (2) days to make the deposit; failure to do so during this time will lead to cancellation of your registration.
  5. Cancelling registration. In special circumstances* students may request the Language Service fully or partially cancel their registration. The following are deemed reasons for cancellation:
    • Documented serious illness.
    • Sudden disability.
    • A sudden, serious change in students' job, financial or family circumstances.
    • Obtaining a place at another university on courses not offered at the UIB, after having registered here.
    • Denial of visa application.
    • Any other similarly exceptional reason.

(*) Under no circumstances will the registration fee be refunded if the course has already started.
