  • Certificate B in Catalan issued by the Catalan Assessment Board/the Language DG/the Balearic Institute/School of Public Administration (Government of the Balearic Islands).
     
  • Certificate of Language I on the Language and Culture Training and Retraining Plan from the Institute of Educational Sciences.

In order to take this level, students must have both oral and written skills to enable them to deal with complex communication tasks that may arise, both in terms of expression and comprehension, and their language skills must enable them to express themselve fluently and spontaneously with a controlled use of organisational structures and linguistic cohesion.

Although not an essential requirement, it would be useful to have taken the previous level and have one of the following certificates or equivalents:

  • C1 Certificate in Catalan issued by the UIB Language Service (from 2010), the Government of the Balearic Islands or the Official Language School.
     
  • Certificate C in Catalan issued by the Catalan Assessment Board/the Language DG/the Balearic Institute/School of Public Administration (Government of the Balearic Islands).
     
  • Certificate of Language II on the Language and Culture Training and Retraining Plan from the Institute of Educational Sciences.

The diplomas, qualifications or certificates issued by the Language Service after taking the A2 Catalan examinations are officially accredited as per the Order of the Regional Minister of Education, Culture and Universities of 21st February 2013, which sets out the equivalent qualifications, diplomas and certificates to the Catalan certificates issued by the Directorate General for Culture and Youth.

Registration Procedure

  1. Please telephone to see if there are places (971 25 95 48 or 971 17 30 15).
  2. Please come in person to the Language Service offices (Son Lledó) with the following documentation:
  3. If you are not part of the university community, when submitting your documents please request UIBdigital credentials.
  4. Once you have submitted your documents to staff at the office (Enric Llompart), the Language Service will provide you with an information sheet containing the bank account number where you need to deposit your registration fee.
  5. You have two (2) days to make the deposit; failure to do so during this time will lead to cancellation of your registration.
  6. Cancelling registration. In special circumstances* students may request the Language Service fully or partially cancel their registration. The following are deemed reasons for cancellation:
    • Documented serious illness.
    • Sudden disability.
    • A sudden, serious change in students' job, financial or family circumstances.
    • Obtaining a place at another university on courses not offered at the UIB, after having registered here.
    • Denial of visa application.
    • Any other similarly exceptional reason.

(*) Under no circumstances will the registration fee be refunded if the course has already started.
